HYDROTHERAPY and WATER
8 glasses a day…NO WAY!!!
Do you know what your main ingredient is? You guessed it, it’s water…good old H2O. Your body is composed of over 70% water and so it is vital for your health and wellbeing that you supply your body with enough of this precious commodity.
What biological functions depend on water?
- Water is essential for biochemical reactions
- Water carries nutrients to every cell and tissue
- Water transports waste material away from every cell and tissue
- Water is essential for maintaining blood circulation
- Water plays an essential role in body temperature regulation
…to name but a few…
But do you drink out of thirst, habit or directive? Feeling a bit waterlogged trying to keep up with the advised 8 glasses a day? Only if your diet is full of irritants and lacking in living foods, or if you are exerting yourself physically, will you need to come even close to drinking the advised 8 glasses a day. And if your diet is in this sorry state, then your body will indeed be crying out for hydration to assist it to dilute the constant state of irritation. But you can do so much better than the old 8 glasses habit…let’s learn about the role of water in achieving a healthy state, what we actually mean when we say ‘Pure Water’ and how it relates to the functions of the human body.
What does it mean to be properly hydrated? Correct hydration means the body has enough water for all systems to function properly.
Benefits of proper hydration include:
- Optimum muscle functioning
- Protection of joints and the brain
- Correct digestive functioning
- Mood regulation
- Skin elasticity
- Improved memory function
Correct bodily hydration does not mean mindlessly flushing the kidneys with litres of water on a daily basis. ‘Should I be drinking more water?’ This is one question that just about every client asks me. In order to educate my client, my first response is to ask the person what they understand the role of the kidneys to be? Very few can actually answer this correctly.
So for the record, amongst other roles, the kidneys:
- Remove waste and excess fluid
- Control blood pressure
- Make red blood cells
- Keep the bones healthy
- Control pH levels
The work performed by the kidneys is quite frankly staggering! When you are at rest, the kidneys are using 25% of your oxygen intake to perform their constant and unceasing work. I will teach you how to work with your mighty kidneys and not waste the energy they use in their vital job, by flushing them constantly with excessive water consumption.
Whilst on the topic of water, let me illuminate you as to the hazards of your municipal water supply (not fit for human consumption)! Water by its chemical description is H2O- 2 parts hydrogen, 1 part oxygen…that’s it! But if you were to analyse the water that flows from your kitchen tap, you will find it is a chemical cocktail including chlorine, fluoride, copper, sulphate, lead, zinc…just to get started. This is not a prescription for pristine health. I will show how to supply yourself with pure, living, vital water…for life.
HEALTHY TIP
When thirsty, drink water at room temperature, this way your body is more readily able to rapidly deliver hydration to the cells and tissues that need it
But wait there is another side to the health benefits of water, other than its internal consumption. I refer to the age old health restoration practices of hydrotherapy.
In Pure Naturopathy we use water:
- In compresses
- In baths
- As steam
- In affusions
- In ablutions
- In packings
The one common denominator of every site of disease is a reduction in circulatory flow in that particular area. In Nature Cure we not only use water to hydrate ourselves, we also use it in external applications to assist the body to improve the circulatory flow to areas of injury or disease. The science of hydrotherapy, used as a healing modality, dates back hundreds of years. Hydrotherapy is 100% perfectly safe and has NO unwanted side effects. I will teach you everything you need to know about water, in all its applications, so that you can be assured of providing your body with the best possible quality and in the right amounts.
